Harvest 2024

The 2024 harvest is well underway, and the warm temperatures we’ve been having in January meant that we received the first grapes almost two weeks earlier than usual, on 18 January.

So far we’ve picked mostly Chenin Blanc and Pinotage, and our viticulturist, Nikey van Zyl, reports that he is very satisfied with the grape quality and Balling (sugar) analises of the grapes.

Although the 2023 winter was marked by floods and very high rainfall, the situation changed very quickly when spring arrived. Persistent winds during the budding and flowering stage soon dried out the soil and this resulted in a much smaller crop than initially predicted.

This year’s harvest is characterized by small bunches, small berries, and a smaller crop, but it holds a lot of potential, and we look forward to the fruits of our labour.
